This Privacy Policy applies to the Chrome extension Privacy for WhatsApp Web: Chat Lock, Blur & Hide.

1. Data We Collect

This extension does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Your settings (such as blur intensity, hover delay, and toggle states) are saved locally on your device using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.

2. PIN Storage

If you enable the Screen Lock feature, a 4-digit PIN is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. This PIN is used solely to lock and unlock the extension on your own browser. It is never transmitted to any server or third party.

3. WhatsApp Web Content

This extension applies visual blur effects to WhatsApp Web content (messages, media, profile pictures, names) directly in your browser. It does not read, store, or transmit any of your WhatsApp messages, contacts, or media.

4. No Tracking or Analytics

We do not use any analytics, tracking tools, or third-party services. We have no way of knowing who uses this extension or how it is used.

5. No Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties — because we do not collect any data in the first place.

6. Permissions

This extension requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:

• storage — to save your settings and PIN locally on your device
• tabs — to detect tab visibility changes for the blur-on-focus-loss feature
• host_permissions (web.whatsapp.com) — to apply blur effects on WhatsApp Web only

No permission is used to collect or transmit user data.
